In Da Tradition: A Brief History of Spoken Word in Minnesota

e.g. bailey + Sha Cage, have produced a radio documentary covering the 30+ year history of spoken word in Minnesota. Moving from the mid-70s to present day, the documentary shows the development of the spoken word community, the Slam movement, spoken word and music ensembles and more. It will highlight seminal figures including Carolyn Holbrook, Louis Alemayehu, J. Otis Powell!, David Mura, Truthmaze, Alexs Pate, Roy McBride, Bao Phi, Diego Vasquez, Desdamona, Marcie Rendon, Dessa and others. The documentary is part of the MinneCulture programs, which are part of KFAI's Legacy Project highlighting Minnesota arts, culture, music and history.
